| They have already started: Wipeout, AMerica's Got Talent, So you THink you can Dance, etc. I like the seasons of Talent with JerrY SPringer, but it has gone downhill since then, and I can only watch the other two in short bursts. Are there any summer shows you are actually looking forward to? |

America's Got Talent is probably the ONLY talent show I watch. Oh, it's got the same problems as the others- annoying judges, acts included just to shock people, dubious methods of electing the winners, etc. But what surprises me is that they actually DO find talented people worth watching every season. Plus unlike other contests, since they allow just about every kind of act, you get to see a wide variety of performances, it isn't just songs or dances. And they tend to have likable contestants or to focus on those with touching pasts (like that housewife opera singer who was a cancer survivor.) Exploitative yes, but that's a given for these shows, it's still moving.
I also watch the MTV Movie awards, though it used to be more fun when it was more a mockery of Award Shows, with time it has become more formal and ironically, similar to its original targets. _________________ For more of my stuff, check my blog at http://sijoblog.blogspot.com, or my TV Tropes page at http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/Sijo |

| Ironically, I found AMerica's GOt Talent better when SPringer was hosting because he did treat people with respect instead fo jsut exploiting them |

Rather liked Des O'Conner's show mainly because Jack Douglas, in his "Alf" character, was a regular. _________________ The moral of the movie Zardoz? Quit while you're a head! |

Regarding America's Got Talent, so far this year I haven't seen any truly amazing act, with the possible exception of the Shadow Theater group, "Defying Gravity". Still there are some very likable and talented contestants, such as the Choir composed of ex-homeless veterans. I'd like to see them win, as they would put the one Million dollar prize to use on a good cause.
I'm also very annoyed at some of the acts that were allowed to pass to the next round. How could they choose the old lady who sang and played the keyboard- both HORRIBLY BAD? Only because some of the judges found her amusing I guess. There were some VERY good singers who got eliminated who should've gotten her slot. As I said, I'm convinced by now that the show is at least partially rigged (otherwise some of the awful acts would never even have gotten to the stage) but still, it's painful to see some peoples' hopes get dashed like that.
I'm still going to watch the show though, because some of the acts that are good are REALLY good. Another one I liked was the married couple who danced while climbing a wall- now that's both innovative and tough to do! _________________ For more of my stuff, check my blog at http://sijoblog.blogspot.com, or my TV Tropes page at http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/Sijo |
